Dr. Ziyad Hammoudeh is a Mayo Clinic-trained, aesthetic fellowship trained, double board-certified plastic surgeon, certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) and the American Board of Surgery (ABS). Both of these boards are recognized and overseen by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). He is an Active Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), and Plastic Surgery Research Council (PSRC). He serves on numerous committees in these societies to improve the quality of plastic surgery care, training, and education.
Dr. Ziyad Hammoudeh completed 17 years of education and specialized surgical training after high school to become a board-certified plastic surgeon. He grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia and stayed in his hometown to attend Drexel University, where he received a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry and graduated with the highest honor of Summa Cum Laude. He then attended medical school at Temple University, serving the underprivileged population of North Philadelphia. While in medical school, he did research at the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) on surgical outcomes of children born with cleft palates.
After medical school, Dr. Ziyad Hammoudeh moved to Detroit to complete a five-year general surgery residency at Wayne State University, where he trained with national leaders in trauma surgery. At Detroit Receiving Hospital, he cared for many critically injured victims of gunshot wounds, burns, and motor vehicle crashes. At the Detroit VA hospital, he also cared for many of the nation’s veterans after their military service.
Following general surgery residency, Dr. Hammoudeh became board certified by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). He then went on to complete a three-year plastic surgery residency at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Mayo Clinic has consistently been ranked as the number one hospital in the country by US News and World Report and was named the best hospital in the world by Newsweek.
Following his plastic surgery residency at Mayo Clinic, Dr. Ziyad Hammoudeh moved to Los Angeles to complete an ASAPS-endorsed aesthetic fellowship through the University of Southern California (USC) program, which is considered by many to be the top fellowship program in the country. During his fellowship, he trained with national and international leaders in cosmetic plastic surgery in Beverly Hills and Marina del Rey to become an expert in advanced aesthetics, including rhinoplasty, face, breast, and body contouring. Faculty from his fellowship included a Past President of ASAPS and two Past Presidents of the Rhinoplasty Society.
Following his fellowship, Dr. Ziyad Hammoudeh became board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). He was offered a position to remain in Los Angeles as faculty to train USC residents and fellows in aesthetic plastic surgery. Dr. Ziyad Hammoudeh has been invited to present his work at conferences throughout the United States and internationally. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals on plastic surgery topics including liposuction combined with drainless tummy tuck, Brazilian butt lift ideal proportions, breast reconstruction with implants and fat grafting, and fat grafting to the face with facelift. He has also published several book chapters on breast augmentation, breast reduction, and combined breast lift with implants. In 2019, Dr. Ziyad Hammoudeh decided to move into private practice in Miami and founded Sunset Plastic Surgery 2021 where he demonstrates his talents today.
